As I lay you down to sleep You know I’d do anything Just to keep you safe To keep you from suffering To keep you, my everything To keep you Falling into deep sleep Nightmares overtaking me Followed me into this waking dream It’s been a year from hell Where is the reprieve? Now I lay me down to sleep May this world find its peace This year’s been painted red Lined with silver in the end Holding this new life That we made for the second time Right before all this started You are the silver line My love, my favorite lights The future is up to us And though it may not be enough I hope that when we choose We choose love Now I lay me down to sleep May this world find its peace This year’s been painted red Lined with silver in the end Lined in silver Lined
2.
On my journey through dreams The darkness that surrounded me Shadowy figure bellowing Now that I am awake Can’t help but still feel the weight The shadow followed me from Sleep, must still be asleep Feel the weight crushing down On us all, not just me Sleep, please tell me I’m asleep We’ve been in this for weeks Turned to months, now forever it seems The shadow covers everything Is anyone awake Feels like fewer every day Did the shadow follow us from Sleep, must still be asleep Feel the weight crushing down On us all, not just me Sleep, please tell me I’m asleep Woke up paralyzed Not knowing what is real Something is wrong here I’m still paralyzed Questioning what is real Months pass by here The world is paralyzed Still unable to tell The line between the realms Fear is what keeps us here Selfishness breaks us Fear is what keeps us here Compassion can save us
3.
It’s a charade We’re saving face Turning the other cheek Broken and bruised, scarred and bloody Always the same They built their name High atop hills of bodies Apathetic to all the suffering We all exist on separate wires Yet we’re tangled together One day we will retrace these lines That are keeping us tethered We all exist on our own wire Refusing to remember One day we will embrace these ties Forcing us to do better We wait for signs of life Ignoring the neon in our eyes Wake up Consciously We can Evoke change Create A new day Together
4.
This is the revolt This is the rebellion This is the revolution It’s up to us to fight Far too many have died There is no other way out of this There is no other way out There is no going back now, from this There is no going back now We are controlled through our culture And we won’t take it anymore We all must stand as one Or we’ll fall together alone Every life is precious So many gone before their time This year’s on fire and we can’t breathe Like was said on the Eighth Ground so long ago We’ve got to reshape the structure one way or another
5.
I awoke to a darkened room In my minds eye Something moved I was paralyzed A weight on my chest Against my ear the shadow pressed The demon moaned It was all I could hear All alone in this waking nightmare And I lulled myself back to sleep It was all I could do in dreams We all settle in For the long winters sleep Alone in a crowded room Was once my excuse But now it’s all quiet No where to go but inside Stay inside Alone in my mind I hope we can make it I know we can make it
6.
We stay still to not be seen Joined together in our apathy Destroying everything Still complacent and never moving We can’t be everything to everyone No one will remember our names Dead long before we’re gone Such a waste We are so lost Nothing has changed We are the forgotten ones We are the forgotten We shake at the thought of it Joined together as we lament Create only fear and grief Actions driven by twisted beliefs We long to be everything to anyone We can’t even remember our names We’ll carry on till we’re gone Such a waste We are so lost Nothing has changed We are the forgotten ones We know the world has moved on And left us behind In these dark days The flames remind us of why we fight We are the forgotten Once so alive Now trapped in time Dark swallows light Blanket of night Who will remember us? Will you remember us? Once so alive Now trapped in time Dark swallows light Blanket of night
7.
We all feel lost sometimes, so hollow It can be hard to find a light to guide The emptiness is inherent Erasing all that lives inside Subconscious descends us Into self-loathing madness We try so hard but we can’t fake it This life is not meant to live alone Still empty, we wrong to right ourselves While sinking deeper in the hole we fight to fill We long for something to take away the pain We choose to medicate, drowning in shame When dark swallows the light And loneliness hardens inside The shell surrounds your heart When dreams wither and die Questioning your purpose in life What’s left to live for? The answer may not be clear But it will come just when you need it Someday it will be there So hold onto hope That one day you will know The reason you lived through it The black hole opens wide Pulling you inside Grab onto my hand I’ll keep you here with me Until you can see better days You’re not alone in this We all need to feel loved We all need to feel love

Now I lay me down to sleep I hope dreams will bring me peace If I should die before I wake Please let them be okay While I lay here quietly Hoping sleep brings them peace My mind is still racing Such wondrous times are these Strange days I am floating above My head hits the pillow and I Am sinking into the deep Staring down at the sky The moon and stars fade to ghosts As I swim through the abyss Soaring through space Shifting through time So peaceful this place Then I awake Now I lay me down to sleep I hope this world finds its peace This year’s been painted red Lined with silver in the end Lined in silver

about

"Emotionally charged atmospherics from a masterful solo debutant. That this album is the creation of just one man is impressive in itself. 'Lined in Silver' is Jason Roberts' first release as a solo artist and the quality and depth is striking. 8/10" - Metal Hammer

"Lined in Silver, the debut work, is an epic, awe inspiring opus of such magnitude, it defies classification. Touted as a mix of post-rock, post-metal, doomgaze, and post-hardcore, I don’t think any of these truly captures the spirit of this outing. Well, maybe doomgaze is a good benchmark, or perhaps dark ambient. Its dark, brooding, introverted, and fully of melancholy. When it’s heavy it’s vicious, and when it’s ambient, it transcends all manner of feeling." - The Sleeping Shaman

"'Lined in Silver' is a great album, one that improves with time. I love the mix of high-strung emotion with dark and passionate feelings, and I love how each song interacts so perfectly with the other. Furthermore, this album reminds me of some of the alternative and post-hardcore albums of my youth, and so the nostalgia is strong. 8.5/10" - The Prog Mind

"Breaths maintains a wonderfully rare and pure sense of self. There's a tangible emotional weight on display here--the whole affair feels deeply personal. Lined In Silver is an album that rewards (and demands) multiple listens. Don't miss it." - Sleeping Village

"Lined In Silver is a breathtaking proposition, fuelled by shimmering post-rock but bolstered by heavier textures from the realms of doom, hardcore and blackgaze. In its most poignant moments the record channels the anxiety and grief that have come with living through a pandemic, but as the album title suggests, the record is more interested in the hope underneath all the gloom." - Astral Noize

"Building on a solid foundation of all things ‘post’, BREATHS creates a soundtrack to his anxiety, both about the state of the world, his feelings as a new father, and a terrifying bout of sleep paralysis. Soundtrack is the write descriptor as well, Lined In Silver often feels cinematic. Its multi-textural makeup takes the listener on a journey through one of the bleakest periods in recent times, then lifts that weight with moments of hope. 9/10" - Distorted Sound

"'Lined in Silver' feels like watching an impressive spectacle of nature without knowing if the shelter you are observing it from is safe or not. The album is exciting, thrilling, and gorgeously gloomy." - MangoWave

"Not a metal band." - The Metal Archives
